Hi! I'm Karli, a 31-year-old disabled woman who uses a power wheelchair. I currently live in the Edmonton area (Beaumont) and work from home as a writer, creator, and consultant.

I'm looking to hire responsible, reliable, & fun people who encourage my independence and respect my home (incl. other members of my household) and requests. I currently have both a temporary full-time (May 13th to July 8th) and casual position available with the possibility of becoming a regular member of my team afterwards. I will provide paid training if we move forward.

PCAs assist me with things like:

- Personal care (hygiene, toileting, dressing, feeding, transferring/positioning, etc.)
- Cooking/meal prep
- Homemaking/organizational tasks
- Cool stuff related to my many freelance gigs
- Accompanying me to appointments
- Anything else that comes up!

Every shift will be a blend of routine and ad-libbing. If you've never done something like this before, please don't let that stop you from applying! Previous experience isn't necessary—it's an easy job to get the hang of since you already do most of the tasks for yourself (like getting dressed) and I'll provide training for everything else.

This position is ideal for those who can follow direction (but also pick up tasks independently), are comfortable with silence when it arises (earphones are welcome as long as you can still hear me), and are okay to quietly entertain themselves during downtime.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- comfortable assisting with personal care (showering, dressing, doing my hair, etc.)
- able to transfer me (50lbs) via manual or mechanical lift (I will provide hands-on training for both)
- punctual & reliable
- willing to wear PPE, upon request
- low-to-no fragrances during shifts
- fluent in conversational English & able to follow verbal directions
- responds to texts in a timely manner
- have a valid driver's license and comfortable driving my (somewhat) accessible minivan
- able to provide a recent background check (incl. a vulnerable persons check)
- able to work in Canada
