Hello!
My name is Sofia Ala Vargas, and I am a tutor of three years looking to expand my business Live To Learn. My methods combine the traditional principles of teaching with a modern twist to ensure the best teaching styles of both worlds. I adjust my teaching style to suit my students' personal learning styles, because every child learns differently, and it is my job as a teacher to adjust my methods to allow them to learn best.
I do not only teach what I am assigned, but meanwhile install good study habits that will last a lifetime, and ignite a love [or at the very least an open mind =) ] towards learning. I have seen my students go from running around the house to avoid having to do their "awful" reading homework, to running to the table with a smile and the book they couldn't wait to read with me.
I offer private lessons for children in grades K-9, online at the moment, with the option to switch to in person in July. I understand there is some stigma surrounding online versus in-person tutoring, however I prioritise maintaining focus and engagement during teaching. I offer services in Mathematics, Geometry, Social Studies History, English, Science, and French as a second language.
My rate is $30/hour, and I also offer essay revisions ( $50/month) and 24 hour homework help to answer questions and explain concepts. ( 160/month).
Regarding my personal education, I have spent 10 years studying as a part of the Cogito Program with a 90 average, and I will be attending Old Scona Academic in the fall to continue a full IB degree, in order to pursue a degree in theoretical physics!
