I ordered this set custom. I used to own a l'il golf emporium in Etobicoke many moons ago that specialized in fun things exactly like these... So allow me to 'splain what these are.

I started with a set of the MP18 ultra-soft forged "SC" ("Split Cavity"... for a tad of shot-missing forgiveness, 'cuz I'm not as good a ball striker as I usedta be!), Japanese made 6 iron to PW. I then immediately sent the heads still in their wrappers, to my old friend Jim Kronus at the IRON FACTORY in Arizona for TOUR CHROMING (I've known Jimmy for 30 years and he used to rechrome my custom stuff for all of the intervening years... We first met at the 1992 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando and have been pals ever since...). The Iron Factory is where all the world's tour pros have their irons "tour chromed" (if you haven't heard of TOUR CHROMING, google The Iron Factory and learn yourself up!)

Then, for true, hey-old stoopid-you-ain't-got-your-old-hands-any-longer-FORGIVENESS, I had Mizuno build me the top end of the set as the hollow-ultra-fast-faced MP18 FLI HI 4-5 irons. The set seamlessly blends together, providing perfect playability everywhere, but most of it where I find I need it now (the long irons, 4 & 5) and surgical shotmaking capability and incredibly soft, soft feel thanks to Mizuno's world leading forging and hand grinding in the rest of scoring end of the set (middle and short irons... ) They're drop dead gorgeous to look down upon, presenting as a classic tour blade. But underneath the hood? Forgiveness in droves where ya, perhaps like moi, need it! If you're an "up-n'-comer" and (ahem) 'coming down' in handicap, and are wondering what all the hype is about with forged blades, but perhaps don't want to dive all of the way into the deep end of the 'pure blade pond', then these are right up your alley! Mizuno's Japanese-meticulous hand crafted manufacturing is legion, and their build quality is legendary. And to find a set done in TOUR CHROME?? You won't find another set this exclusive outside of you doing for yourself, what I did. At retail, the set custom ordered as 6-PW was $1300. The 4-5 were $289 tax each (add $650 there...) And the TOUR CHROMING is $45 US per club ($60 CDN) x 5 irons plus duties and taxes coming back to our side of the border (all together $400 CDN). So mathin' everything up here, this set would represent an investment of nearly $2400. But here, now? In exactly the condition you can see in the attached pics? They can be in the bag of the next custodian for only $999... going in to Golf Town, or logging in to their website, and glancing at any Mizuno iron set on their rack that would be comparable to these (JPX923 or Mizuno Pro Forgings...) would net you an iron less (sets today come 4-PW... The 3-iron is a separate purchase...), and they'll lighten your sansabelts an additional $477.50 MORE than what I'm asking here (the models mentioned above retail for $1750 off the rack, so adding tax totals $1977.50...)
