This is my 1976 MGB. She runs and she drives. With 30000 miles the car was barely driven with most of its years spent in a garage. The car is almost untouched with almost the whole car being stock. If I had it my way I wouldn't be selling this car but frankly I need the money and the space.
I bought this MGB almost a year ago with the intention of having a project car to fix and drive in the summer. When I got the car It hadn't run for around 8 years. It had been stored in a heated garage for that time collecting dust. The person I bought the car from was pretty much the original owner. He told me he bought it off a farmer in Ontario not long after the production date with a couple hundred miles on it. When I got the car I did the basics: Compression test (made very even compression), oil change, coolant flush, brake bleed, drain old gas, new spark plugs, clean distributor, new air filter, new fuel filter and new battery. I had to strip out the old carpet as it was moldy. The centre console was cracked so I tossed that. I replaced the entire fuel system in the rear of the car. The fuel pump did not work, the fuel tank was rusted and the fuel sender was old. Did a basic timing fix and fixed some electrical issues. The big reason why the car did not run was because it wasn't getting any fuel.
The MGB's interior needs a little work, there is no carpet or center console (shown in pictures). For the exterior, the soft top has some rips, the paint has some small chips and that spot of rust (shown in pictures), the mirror mount is broken for the passenger side of the car but I still have the mirror for it. While she does run and drive I would recommend getting the carb tuned replacing the old tires and maybe replacing some of the dried bushings in the suspension. Another possible issue are the brakes. They work but are not very powerful. Despite these Issues the car is a blast to drive. You feel like you're going twice the speed you're traveling at. The car handles amazingly for its age. Shifting is flawless and the clutch feels the best I've ever felt. With the lack of assist and electronics you really do feel connected to the car. The underside of the car looks brand new with a very small amount of surface rust in some areas and with its low miles this car is perfect for anyone willing to put a little love into it. Let me know if you have any questions. The price is negotiable.
