Kitchen Coordinator

Seeking a Full-time or Part-time Kitchen Coordinator (Manager) to join our team.
Our ideal candidate should have 3 to 5 years of sous-chef experience and all-round knowledge of the kitchen operations.

Your job is to provide friendly, courtesy service to our members, visitors, and volunteers all while maintaining food quality & consistency, inventory, cleaning, menu planning, directing volunteers and per plate costing for the Centre's scheduled food programs & private events.

Responsibilities:
Food Preparation for the week. (Consisting of lunches, bingo lunches, "take away" frozen meals & baked goods)
Develop and plan menus for upcoming events. (Such as luncheons, monthly scheduled suppers & private events)
Maintaining standards for food storage, quality, and rotation of stock
Managing food costs and inventory
Ensuring kitchen complies with health codes and regulations.
Maintain cleaning schedules for equipment, food storage, café & bar and work areas.
Lead, manage and schedule volunteers.
Handling of money
Experience working with food providers such as Gordon Food Services.
Outsourcing for food products to reduce food costs.
Communicate with the Office Coordinator and Executive Director
Knowledge of and the ability to operate food service tools and equipment
Ability to withstand long periods of walking, standing, bending & capacity to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications:
AHS Food Handling Certificate or ability to obtain.
3-5 years of experience managing a team in a supervisory capacity
Organizational skills & work well under pressure.
Positive attitude towards volunteers, community, and peers
Adaptability to change.
Attention to detail & creativity.
Valid driver's license and mode of transportation
Police background check required.

Schedule: Full time or Part time
Full Time: Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm with 1 hr unpaid lunch break.
Part Time: Tues, Wed, Thurs 8am to 4pm with 1 hr unpaid lunch break.
Private event dates when required.
Remuneration
$17 to $20 per hour to start with raise after 3-month review
