Marvel Construction Inc. is a construction company based in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia. We focus mainly on building foundation footings and walls using wood panels or insulated concrete forms. We also do landscaping (planting, earth leveling and excavation) and framing up walls using steel tracks and studs. Job Summary/Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Construction Worker to join our team. In this position, you would be responsible for the following duties:

• Loading and unloading construction materials
• Moving materials to work areas
• Erecting and dismantling concrete forms
• Erecting and dismantling scaffolding
• Erecting and dismantling ramps
• Erecting and dismantling catwalks
• Erecting and dismantling shoring
• Erecting and dismantling barricades
• Mixing, pouring and spreading concrete
• Mixing, pouring and spreading asphalt
• Assisting carpenters in measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling and joining materials
• Assisting carpenters with building foundations
• Assisting carpenters with installing floor beams
• Assisting carpenters with laying subflooring
• Assisting carpenters with erecting walls
• Assisting carpenters with erecting roof systems
• Assisting carpenters with fitting and installing trim items
• Assisting bricklayers in construction activities
• Assisting cement finishers in construction activities
• Assisting cement finishers with directing concrete into forms according to grade
• Assisting cement finishers with directing concrete onto surfaces according to grade
• Assisting cement finishers with operating power vibrators
• Assisting cement finishers with filling hollows
• Assisting cement finishers with removing high spots
• Assisting cement finishers with smoothing freshly poured concrete
• Assisting cement finishers with leveling top surface of concrete
• Assisting cement finishers with finishing concrete surfaces
• Assisting cement finishers with installing fixtures in freshly poured concrete
• Assisting cement finishers with curing surface of concrete
• Assisting cement finishers with repairing
• Assisting cement finishers with resurfacing

• Signaling operators to guide them in moving equipment
• Assisting in aligning pipes
• Assisting in drilling rock
• Assisting in blasting rock
• Assisting miners in excavating and in setting up and operating various drills and other surface mining machinery
• Leveling earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovel
• Assisting in demolishing buildings using prying bars and other tools
• Sorting salvaged materials
• Cleaning salvaged materials
• Piling salvaged materials
• Removing rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
• Operating pneumatic hammers as directed
• Operating vibrators as directed
• Operating tampers as directed
• Tending mixers
• Tending compressors
• Tending pumps
• Feeding mixers
• Feeding compressors
• Feeding pumps
• Cleaning up chemical spills
• Cleaning up other contaminants
• Removing asbestos
• Removing other hazardous materials
• Oil and grease hoists
• Direct traffic at or near construction sites
• Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.


Requirements:

The successful applicant will have at least 1.5 years of relevant experience.

Salary: to be negotiated

Terms of employment: Permanent, full-time (40 hours/week)

Minimum educational requirements: Secondary school or higher. Completion of construction training program also accepted.
