General Worker (Construction Labourers)

Responsibilities of a General Worker (NOC 75110):
• Loading and Unloading Construction Materials: Safely load and unload construction materials, ensuring they are transported to the designated work areas within the long-term care facility or multi-residential construction site.
• Installation and Removal of Structures: Assist in installing and removing concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, and barricades at construction sites, paying particular attention to safety and accessibility requirements for residents.
• Concrete and Asphalt Work: Participate in mixing, pouring, and spreading materials such as concrete and asphalt, adhering to specifications and standards suitable for long-term care facilities and multi-residential constructions.
• Assisting Heavy Equipment Operators: Support heavy equipment operators by assisting in securing attachments to equipment and signaling them to guide their movements, ensuring the safety of both workers and residents.
• Pipeline Construction and Earthwork: Assist in aligning pipes and performing related activities during oil and gas pipeline construction, as well as leveling earth to fine-grade specifications using rakes and shovels, considering the impact on surrounding areas and infrastructure.
• Demolition and Debris Removal: Participate in demolishing buildings and removing rubble and debris at construction sites, using appropriate equipment and techniques to minimize disruption and ensure the safety of workers.
• Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators, tampers, and other equipment as required, and tend to equipment such as mixers, compressors, and pumps, ensuring they are properly maintained and functioning.
• Environmental Safety: Clean up chemical spills or other contaminants and assist in removing asbestos or other hazardous materials, prioritizing the safety and well-being of residents, workers, and the environment.
• Equipment Maintenance: Oil and grease hoists and similar equipment regularly to ensure proper functioning and prevent breakdowns, contributing to the efficient operation of construction activities.
• Traffic Control: Direct traffic at or near construction sites, ensuring the safe flow of vehicles and pedestrians while considering the needs and safety of residents and workers.


Skills and Qualifications:
• Construction Experience: Preferred experience of at least 1 year in construction, with a focus on safety and adherence to regulations.
• Driver's License: Possession of a valid driver's license; CDL (Commercial Driver's License) a plus, enabling flexibility and mobility on construction sites.
• Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with common manual and power tools and equipment used in construction, demonstrating the ability to handle them safely and effectively.
• Physical Strength: Capable of lifting 50 pounds and performing physically demanding tasks, essential for the demands of construction work.
• Flexible Schedule: Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule to meet the dynamic needs of construction projects in long-term care facilities and multi-residential constructions.

• 12 hour shift
• Day shift
