Milk and Cheese Production Assistant
Schedule:
This position is a summer position starting April 29th- August 30th/ 2024 with the possibility of expanding to a permanent position in September.
Approximately 40 hours a week
Cheesemaking Assistant Duties Include:
• Bottling milk and kefir products
• Cleaning large pieces of equipment through out the day and washing pieces by hand as well as learning to use the Clean in Place system for tanks and lines
• Sanitizing workspace and equipment
• Setting up production equipment
• Help with the packaging of cheese and butter
• Following food safety program
• Following workplace safety program
• Safe chemical handling practices
• Ability to lift 40lbs and work on your feet
• Operating the Butter Churn

About the job:
As a Cheesemaking Assistant you will be involved in each step in the life cycle of our milk, cheese and butter with a particular focus on cleaning and sanitation.
You will be a part of the small team responsible for making all the different varieties of cheese we produce, time management and a hard working attitude are a must. You should feel comfortable working independently or with a team and using light industrial equipment including cleaning systems and a butter churn, or willing to learn these skills.
You should also have an appropriate respect for food safety and sanitary food handling skills; milk and cheese are highly susceptible to contamination and we must always be mindful of all critical control points in our processes.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $18.50-$20.00 per hour depending on experience
Expected hours:
40 per week. Must be willing to work longer than a 8 hour shift. Start times are typically 6am and 8-10 hour days run Mon-Thursday with Friday being shorter 4-6 hours. Weekends are off.
