Bonjour !

My name is Katrina (or, Mme H), and I am a certified teacher currently teaching at the elementary level in Alberta. I graduated in 2023 with a Degree in Elementary Education from Mount Royal University, along with a minor in French. I am very passionate about teaching the language, as I myself am a product of the French Immersion stream in Alberta. As such, I am personally familiar with the challenges that can arise from taking a second language in school.

My teaching philosophy is student centered, with an emphasis on utilizing a growth-mindset along individual passions, interests and strengths to drive our learning.

I offer online French tutoring services for students from K-8, in subjects including (but not limited to)
- French reading / phonemic awareness
-French reading comprehension
-Oral French production
- Math, social, science work in French

I began tutoring online back in 2019, during the COVID pandemic. I learnt very quickly how convenient online tutoring can be, with tight schedules, changing needs, and varying locations. I offer both half hour sessions (25/for the half hour) and full hour sessions (50/hourly). I run my sessions through secure Google Meetings, as well as create a digital 'journal' for your child which is shared with them and their family, to continue supporting their learning outside of our time together.

During our sessions, your child can expect to play many French games (never enough time for educational play), learn content related to what inspires them, work through either school-provided and/or personalized created content, and feel supported, encouraged and confident in their own capabilities.
