Steel Pressure Blower from B.F. Sturtevant. No.3 blower for Cupola, Furnaces & Forges. First built in the 1870s, they were used for supplying air blast to cupolas, furnaces, forges. Also for blowing scales off of dies, furnishing draft to coal fires, and fresh air into mine shafts. The casings of these blowers consist of a cast-iron shell, split vertically and fitted with a circular outlet. This No. 3 blower stands 28 inches from the base and the circular casing is 23 inches across. A great antique that can still be used!
