Van Giessen Growers Inc is a leading edge producer of potatoes for the frozen fries market. We also grow fresh vegetables for retail and foodservice markets throughout Western Canada. The candidate for this position will be a self starter with a strong work ethic, “Can Do” attitude and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:
* Class 1 or 3 license or the willingness to get one.
* 5 years relevant work experience. (Operating farm equipment)
* Proven track record of safely operating farm machinery
* Strong mechanical skills
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate team members;
* Strong time management and organizational skills.


Key Responsibilities:
* Operate planting, harvest, and tillage equipment with the latest tractors and technologies.
* Maintain rolling equipment, irrigation equipment and packshed equipment.
* Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules in a shop based environment between field operations and in winter.
* The ability to do light fabrication and welding is an asset.
* Plays an integral part in Food Safety on the farm
* Ensures proper methods and procedures are followed that are in compliance with safety standards and Health and Safety policies.
* Identify and execute opportunities for operational cost savings.
