Dear students/parents,

My name is Basel Omran. I am a PhD student in the Department of Earth and Space Science and Engineering at York University and a member of the Astronautics and Robotics Laboratory (ASTRO Lab). I was awarded three degrees in graduate studies: the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University, the Master of Science in Space and Engineering Systems from Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, and the Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from King Abdulaziz University. All of which were achieved with first class honors, in addition to the best master's research thesis award in 2021.

I have research interests in several fields including orbital mechanics, spacecraft dynamics and control, satellite formation, satellite constellation design, aerodynamics and aircraft propulsion. Currently, I am doing my PhD research on the topic of navigation, guidance, and control of space-based solar power satellites. I am extremely passionate in applying the fundamentals of math and physics in practical applications that help in securing a prosper future for our planet and the lives of our generations. I have presented my research in international space conferences in various places around the globe. Recalling the period of my study before the undergraduate level, I have realized the critical role in basing our education on a deeply profound level of understanding the fundamentals in math and physics. A strong foundation will greatly help you during undergraduate study. Coming from a big family, I have had the opportunity to help my siblings in their studies, mainly in math and physics during grades 9 - 12. Furthermore, I helped my classmates during my undergraduate studies in the preparing for quizzes and exams. Currently, I am a teaching assistant at York University (the current subject is Physics). I enjoy teaching and interacting with students from various cultures and educational background interests.

It should be mentioned that the preferred platform is Zoom. In-person classes can also be arranged, depending on the location and availability. I expect my students to be present, alert, and interacting with me throughout the lessons. In this regard, I will apologize if you want me to do any work, such as a homework or a project, without your presence, regardless of how much you would be willing to pay.
