Role
The Operations Manager is responsible for BOP Operators and the equipment they use, and the shop and yard where equipment is stored. As the manager/supervisor of all operators there are legislative requirements to consider. A manager/supervisor is responsible to ensure driver training, company and safety orientations, and all necessary job specific training is completed prior to putting workers in a position where the operator may place him/herself, co-workers, client workers, or the public at risk.
The Operations Manager is accountable for all documentation required to be turned into the office for processing of payroll, field tickets, safety, and other documents required for efficient business operations.

Dispatch
Primary dispatch responsibilities. Ensuring that the Select Call is informed of proper order of calls/priorities.
Safety
The requirements include daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks wherein the Operations Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safety program requirements are being met.
Equipment Repairs & Maintenance
This relates closely to the safety component. Equipment maintenance must be properly recorded, logged, and signed off as complete in order to fulfill safety obligations and the ability to pass a safety audit.
As an Operations Manager you will oversee costs of operations and maintenance for each unit. Proper coding of expenses, allocation of expenses to specific units, these are crucial to the office being able to return a report indicating what the costs of each unit are.
Personnel – Operator Staffing
Review resumes, initiate onboarding & offboarding procedures, probationary and annual employee reviews.
Strategically developing staff to take on larger roles and responsibilities in the company. You will be building your own team, influencing the development of internal systems, ………..
Training
Training of BOP Operators, training of operators on new or different equipment.
Client & Consultant Relationships
Maintaining professional communications and responding to dispatch calls promptly.
Ensuring all operators maintain professional standards in the course of completing work.
Discretionary Authority
Ability to make decisions and act on them within the parameters set by the company. Handling problems or repairs efficiently by having the ability to approve expenditures.
Communications & Documentation
As the key person between the worker and the office, client and office, client and equipment operators, strong admin habits have to be in place. Training, easy to manage systems, and consistency. Properly set up workflows using the M365 tenant are key here.
General Job Requirements
As a BOP Operations Manager the requirements of the BOP Operator role apply.
• Have a valid class 5 drivers license
• Demonstrate safe vehicle operation
• Be able to work well with and respect other crew members
• Complete all training and demonstrate ability to perform tasks learned safely
• Complete paper work and online documentation properly and in a timely fashion
• Follow all safety procedures showing ability to complete tasks safely and keep all tickets current
• Have a good knowledge different well site operations
• Help teach and train new operators
Job Specific Requirements
BOP Testing is a 24 hour on-call environment and operators must ensure “fit for duty” requirements are met.
• Standard First Aid with CPR (Training available)
• Current H2S certificate (Training available)
• Oilfield Experience is an asset
• Problem solving and some mechanical skills are an asset
• Working on your own and being responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of units
• All applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment D&A Screening
• Complete site-specific safety orientations and training as needed
• Meet all company and safety requirements and policies
• Moderate computer work
Preferred Experience:
• Previous Pressure Testing experience
• Oilfield experience preferably with conventional oil rigs as a floorhand (roughneck) or higher
• Service Rig or Drilling Rig experience
• Leadership and Customer service skills
