Job Description:
As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you will play a crucial role in providing personal care and support to our clients. Your duties will include assisting with daily living activities, providing emotional support, and helping maintain a safe and healthy environment. You will be working closely with clients from diverse backgrounds, with a focus on serving the South Asian community in Pickering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medication Reminders
- Assist clients with personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming.
- Help with mobility and physical exercises.
- Prepare and serve meals, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and cultural preferences.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Perform light housekeeping duties.
- Monitor client health and report any changes.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) from a recognized institution.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills. Additional language skills relevant to the South Asian community (e.g., Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi) are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of cultural practices and sensitivities within the South Asian community is an asset.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
- Driving is not a must, but is an asset.
