And are you looking for a self-employed Part Time opportunity where you can work variable shifts, including both weekdays & weekends, as well as overnight shifts (time to time)?
A mature woman living in York Region is looking for a Part Time Caregiver to walk alongside her and support her in developing relationships and connections in her community.
As a Caregiver, you will be providing personal care and support to an individual who needs assistance with activities of daily living in a 1:1 role, transporting to activities and events in the local community.
If you're a PSW or DSW with multi-year experience supporting complex developmentally disabled client living in the community who has knowledge and experience communicating via American Sign Language (ASL), then this role is for you!
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all aspects of daily living in a 1:1 caregiving role - including personal hygiene, menu planning & food portioning, intellectual stimulation.
• Drives client to community-based events on a regularized schedule within York Region and the Toronto area.
• Responsible for supporting and developing relationships and connections for the client in the community.
• Responsible for introducing new activities, but ensuring the client feels comfortable in public situations and able to encourage new activities and meeting new people quietly and gently.
Qualifications
• PSW or DSW with multi-year experience supporting complex developmentally disabled clients living in the community (vs. group home)
• American Sign Language (ASL) communication is required (partial fluency will be considered, willingness to take ASL classes to improve skills where required)
• A valid driver's license (verifiable drivers abstract) and a current vehicle insurance policy.
• Current satisfactory Police Vulnerable Persons check.
• Current First Aid and CPR
• Compassion, patience and understanding.
• Empathetic and able to feel and understand the clients' needs as well as compartmentalize their own needs.
• Reliable
• Strong ethics
• Physical strength and stamina
• Commitment to health and safety
• Knowledge of different dietary requirements
• Strong communication and social skills
• Understanding of anxiety disorders, fearless
• Must have a firm belief that people with disabilities are an integral part of the community.
• Good problem-solving skills to help client navigate daily challenges.
• Flexibility in their approach to getting a job done and the ability to “weather the storm” is an asset.
• Able to drive & support activities within Toronto & York Region
• Willing to work variable part- time shifts, both weekday & weekend, as well as overnight shifts (time to time)
• Ability to work and bill as a self-employed contractor.

The hours include days, weekend days, and overnights. The shifts are: 9:00AM. -5:00PM, OR 9:00PM - 9:00AM. OR 5:00PM to 9:00PM, with flexibility to cover other times as needed.

This is a self-employed contractor position. A highly competitive contract hourly rate will be determined based on education and experience.
