LATHE IS IN HALIFAX - WORTH THE TRIP
For sale a warner swasey no 4 turret lathe. Just came out of a transmission shop where it was used for over 30 years to cut apart torque converters.
Lathe can run on single phase motor in a home shop - it is belt driven and starts/stops with clutches. All you need to do is put in a 5hp or larger single phase motor and transfer the pulley over. Right now it has a 600V 3 phase motor.
Needs 4x8ft floor space, weighs 4500lb. It has all the functions of a normal lathe except for threading. Turret can be used in place of a tailstock and can even power feed to adjustable stop, as does the carriage and cross slide. This is a video of identical lathe in action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K14vwX82HF8&t=29s
Lathe was operational until this week including all the power feeds. The only issue I know of is taht turret moves forward but will not index- it is probably stuck from not being used.
I bought this as a package deal and don't have a need or room for it. Lathe is still sitting on a cradle, in front of a bay door so a tilt deck truck or trailer can easily grab it.
Sorry, I don't have 600v power so you can't see it run unless you bring in a single phase motor.
Price is down to $1200 - the value of the the chuck, tool post and scrap metal of the rest. If not sold for what I am asking I will scrap it.
